History 282 is the second half of a two-semester series of courses that cover American history from the initial colonization of the continent through the twentieth century. This course provides an introduction to American history after the Civil War. Students will examine major events, trends, and themes in the American past from multiple perspectives and will produce a piece of original research on modern American history.
