Description

This course is an introduction in microbiology with emphasis on the bacteria. The course includes topics in microbial morphology, metabolism, genetics, immunology, and selected topics in applied microbiology and virology. Special topics in microbial and parasitic diseases of man, animal, and plants will be used to illustrate the diversity and complexity of these microorganisms.

Prerequisites

Qualified for ENG 100. Qualified for MATH 82X.

MICR 140L: General Microbiology Lab

Description

This laboratory course will give practical, hands-on experiences in introductory microbiology. Laboratory exercises are selected to illustrate fundamental principles covered in lecture.

Prerequisites

"C" or higher or concurrent enrollment in MICR 130.
