HWST 107: Hawai‘i: Center of the Pacific
This course is an introduction to the unique aspects of Hawai‘i and Hawaiian culture in relation to the larger Pacific including origins, language, religion, land, art, history, and current issues.
Qualified for ENG 100S.
- Show knowledge of similarities between Native Hawaiians and other Oceanic peoples' cultures, languages, religions, arts and natural resources.
- Explain the connections of historical events to modern issues in relation to the unique social, political and economic history of Hawai‘i, including concepts such as colonization and decolonization, occupation, independence movements, and sovereignty.
